14. "Stay open to being a witness to 1" with Zakia L. Jarrett
Since the fall of 2016, Zakia has served as LRC's volunteer Young Adult & Public Campus Ministries Coordinator. She is married and has five children, including two bonus sons. Zakia is a graduate of Robert Morris University (now Roosevelt University), where she studied Business Administration. With a background in Organizational Leadership, she has over 16 years of campus engagement experience. In June 2013, Zakia founded Faith Connection, a ministry designed to build an every growing network of intercessory prayer warriors. Born and raised in Illinois, Zakia has grown up serving in her church, community and beyond and believes that young adults challenge us to rethink church. In her role with Young Adult Ministry, she networks and collaborates with local Young Adult Ministry leaders as well as the LRC Young Adult Ministry Council, to create dynamic worship and ministry spaces, designed specifically with young adults in mind. It is the YAM Council's prayer that thru these ministry spaces, we would attract, retain and engage young adults in a relational way, while empowering them with the creative freedom to worship and do ministry together.
