For approximately two years, both professional detectives and amateur investigators made efforts to uncover the true identity of a hiker found deceased in a tent in Florida along the Appalachian Trail.
During his journey, he would introduce himself as "Mostly Harmless," although the origins of this nickname remain unknown. Some individuals referred to him as "Denim," likely due to the jeans he frequently wore.
Scheduled for release on February 8th, a new documentary titled "They Called Him Mostly Harmless" delves into the story, highlighting the individuals on Facebook who selflessly dedicated their time to unraveling the mystery surrounding this man. The documentary compiles all the gathered information about him and includes interviews with both internet sleuths and fellow hikers who interacted with him on the Appalachian Trail. Through their collective efforts, the hiker's true name, "Vance John Rodriguez," was eventually discovered.
