Just because it comes with, doesn’t mean we have to eat it.” - Horace McMillon
A big part of my journey towards improved health has required me to become very intentional about what, where, and when I eat and don’t eat. I have a daily calorie budget that work to stay within each day.
As part of my work, I travel a lot. I left home very early this morning. So I decided to grab breakfast at the airport. I settled on a bacon egg and cheese sandwich- approximately 600 calories. The sandwich comes with tater tots. I asked for the sandwich only. I was informed that the price was the same regardless.
Although I enjoy tater tots and occasionally eat them- I didn’t want the extra 400 calories today. I paid for the sandwich and rather than accepting the tots, I asked the cashier to give me the sandwich only. I had a satisfying meal and stayed within my goals.
What things do we find ourselves accepting that do not support our goals? Perhaps it’s time for us to turn them down too.
Peace be with you.
