No hopeless case

Carol could never forget how devastated she felt when her father left them for another family when she was a small child.  He left suddenly, without warning, and she was daddy’s girl, her world revolved around him.  When Carol got married, her past haunted her.  She couldn’t trust her husband and always suspected he was having an affair and might betray and leave them.  One day he lost his job, sunk into depression, and turned to drinking.  He neglected his family as if they didn’t exist.  Carol’s fears seemed to come true.
