Concerns over collection of personal data by security guards

Concerns have emerged regarding data protection , this as many residential or lifestyle estates collect personal information at access or entry points. Security guards  previously would ask visitors for the name, cellphone number or to open the car boot but now with the digital age, they scan your car disc and drivers licenses .   Since the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) came into effect on July 1st 2020, this has raised a number of questions regarding what information may be collected at these complexes.
