If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.” - from Isaiah 52
For those of us who claim to love God, it is not enough for us to fast, and pray. It’s not enough for us to read the scripture, and practice the rituals. Our love is to be tangible, and to have an everyday impact on the lives of others.
Our light must rise in the darkness. We have to stop the finger pointing and malicious talk. We must feed the hungry, cloth the naked, care for the sick, welcome the stranger, remember the imprisoned and do everything we can to fight injustice and oppression.
This is the religion God wants us to practice. May our light shine in the darkness.
Peace be with you.
