The alleged perpetrator was operating a black four-door Nissan Frontier pickup truck, as observed by various security cameras, including the Barrazas' personal doorbell camera, as it traversed the vicinity both prior to and following the incident. Investigators suspect that the driver had been patiently awaiting Sergio Barraza's departure for work.
Subsequently, upon his departure, the driver parked the vehicle on the street adjacent to the Barrazas' residence, with the headlights still illuminated. Following the discharge of the final shot, the assailant swiftly returned to the truck and made their escape. However, authorities have reported that the truck later reappeared, presumably to verify Barraza's demise. (She passed away the subsequent day at the hospital.)
Investigators reported that Barraza greeted her killer with a "good morning" before being shot at close range three times. The video footage captures her screaming as she collapses to the ground, with the shooter firing a fourth shot while she was on her back.
