IU Loses Again. Robbie Hummel, Bruce Weber, Tony East, and Joe Hillman Join!
(00:00-23:37) – Query & Company opens on a Thursday with Jake Query, Jimmy Cook, and producer Eddie Garrison sharing their thoughts on the Indiana Hoosiers losing again. Jake goes on a rant about how it’s tiring talking about the same issues with Indiana underneath Mike Woodson this season. Jimmy states that he’s not going anywhere because of the comments Woodson made earlier this week and how IU can’t afford to keep firing and hiring coaches every three years.
(23:37-41:51) – Former Indiana Hoosier Joe Hillman joins Jake & Jimmy on the show to share his perspective as to what is wrong with Indiana basketball right now. He states that the transfer portal has been one of the worst things in college basketball, doesn’t believe that Mike Woodson is putting players in their best position to succeed, and explains what situations the players need to be put into to succeed to close the season strong going into the Big Ten Tournament.
(41:51-42:35) – Hour one concludes quickly with Jake and Jimmy previewing their upcoming conversation with Tony East.
(42:35-1:06:15) – Tony East from Forbes Sports, Sports Illustrated, Locked On Pacers, and WTHR makes his weekly stop on Query & Company with Jake Query & Jimmy Cook. Their conversation starts with Tony’s storylines for the remainder of the season for the Pacers. He accesses what kind of minutes Jarace Walker, Ben Sheppard, and Obi Toppin could have in the final 26 games. Finally, he compares Walker’s situation to Pascal Siakam’s rookie season with the Toronto Raptors that’s helped him become the player he is.
(1:06:15-1:19:40) – Earlier in the program, Jake and Jimmy went on a rant about Indiana basketball. This time around they center their conversation around Mike Woodson’s and how he didn’t plan ahead to replace Jalen Hood-Schifino. Additionally, they try to be optimistic about next season, but the Hoosiers aren’t giving them any reason to be.
(1:19:40-1:23:53) – The one o’clock hour concludes Jake sharing a tweet from a listener about Indiana’s guard situation. Additionally, Jake shares the idea of a segment that will debut next Friday.
(1:23:53-1:45:01) – Former Big Ten coach and current analyst, Bruce Weber, joins the show to share his thoughts on Indiana’s loss last night to Nebraska, explains what kind of player he sees in Gabe Cupps next season, and states that Indiana needs a couple guards for next season. Additionally, he touches on the Illinois collapse against Penn State, states that he felt like Purdue started slipping in recent games prior to the loss to Ohio State and picks a team that he thinks could win the Big Ten Tournament that’s not at the top of the conference standings.
(1:45:01-1:49:51) – Yesterday Jake and Jimmy came up with the idea of playing tournament in Kalamazoo featuring the worst teams in college basketball. The ultimate loser ends up getting a chance to compete in the NCAA Tournament.
(1:49:51-2:05:06) – Today’s show ends with the JCook Plays of the Day. Additionally, college basketball analyst Robbie Hummel joins the show to preview Purdue’s game tonight against Rutgers, doesn’t believe that Purdue is starting to feel pressure of the NCAA Tournament with March quickly approaching, states that this is the best team that Matt Painter has ever had at Purdue, and lists all the problems that the Indiana Hoosiers have had this season.
