Susan’s mom may not have been the warmest of parents, but as a doctor who was also a racecar driver, she might have been the coolest. She was certainly the only one Susan knew who enlisted her young daughter as co-pilot and navigator in an epic road race—that they won. Years later, Susan is a physician just like her mom. She reflects on their relationship, what it has meant, and how it has changed over the years.
Sue performed this story live at the Parkway Theater in Minneapolis in April 2023, for an event on the theme of "REBIRTH" which The Nocturnists co-produced with the Center for the Art of Medicine.
