E50 Eric Bickernicks - Author of Satirical UFO & Conspiracy Novels
On this episode I'm joined by author Eric Bickernicks. Eric has written satirical novels on UFOs and conspiracies. Eric is a self-proclaimed skeptic and even though we rarely saw eye to eye on the topics we covered, it was still an enjoyable conversation (because that's what adults do). Eric seemed to lean on the mainstream media narrative for many topics as well as resident "debunker" Mick West for his view of the world. I've seen Mick West produce exact to pretty close replicas of "real" UFO evidence. My issue is that if your goal is to replicate a picture and discount the experience with it, then that can be done all day. For instance, Eric subscribes to the official JFK narrative. Oswald was the lone shooter and patriotic American Jack Ruby ended him. Eric references that professional marksmen have been able to recreate the shots that Oswald, allegedly, took. Give me the location, time needed to complete the task, endless hours practicing, a closed off range and I'm pretty sure I could come at least close to the desired outcome. You're taking away the intangibles; the nerves, second thoughts, concern about being caught etc. Anyway, I digress. Eric finds himself between a rock and a hard place, writing a skeptical book on conspiracies and UFOs for people...who don't believe in conspiracies and UFOs? Tough sell on a show like mine, and I think Eric realizes that. Also in the show notes is a BBC article that shows 66% of researchers cannot produce the same results in a scientist's experiments. I think the kids call that, bringing the receipts. Anyway, give Eric a follow, check out the link to his books and let him know you heard him on Wild & Weird. Enjoy the show!
