Today is the 10th anniversary of the Wisconsin Public Education Network, and to kick off the show, Tessa Maglio with the network calls in from their party. While she says she's happy to celebrate, she also laments that they're still needed 10 years later.
Then, it's time to do some learning, we are educators after all. Dr Tim and Dr Johnny give a civics 101 about how state lawmakers influence public education, and why it matters who we elect to represent us.
A Texas law allowing chaplains in public schools is spreading to other states. Tim says that the law is dangerous, Johnny says that it could have some benefits, and they duke it out in a (friendly) debate about whether or not a chaplain belongs in school.
