In composing this stotram of five verses Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya connects the five syllables - na-ma-shi-va-ya , relating them to Bhagavan Shiva’s glories and his unchanging nature. He initiates us into chanting the mantra and also evokes a sweet surrender in us.
