Over and over, when I ask God why all of these injustices are allowed to exist in the world, I can feel the Spirit whisper to me, You tell me why we allow this to happen. You are my body, my hands, my feet.
Shane Claiborne
The Biblical witness says that God created this world, created humanity and put us in charge of caring for it and for each other.
It also describes us as being members of one body with many functions. But every member is designed to function for the wellbeing of the whole.
So anytime we see suffering, anytime we see cruelty, anytime we see apathy towards the wellbeing of others - the question for us to answer is what are we doing to make it better.
We have been sent into the world and called to be the neighbor to any and everyone, even people who would not do the same for us.
19th Century evangelist Charles Finney believed that if all the people who claimed to follow Jesus actually started doing it, the world would be transformed in a matter of weeks.
I don’t know about his timeline. I do believe love prevails- eventually.
I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
