GRIT = SUCCESS
Welcome to today’s episode of ‘The BraveHearted Woman’ Podcast with your host and braveheart coach, Dawn Damon where your heart meets your life’s vision. This is a go-to podcast for empowering women with beautiful visions for their lives who ultimately desire to live with purpose, find their brave, and fulfill dreams.
I believe most of you would know what encountered the word ‘grit.’ But let me tell you its origin. In Etymology, it came from the Old English word ‘grēot,’ which means dust, earth, or gravel. To have that grit is to have the courage, resolve, the strength of character, pluck, or mettle.
For me, grit is the combination of 3 things in achieving one’s long-term goals ~ perseverance, passion, and resilience. It’s about having that sustained and focused effort despite challenges, pushbacks, and catastrophes. Sounds hard, isn’t it? But trust me, grit works. It works for me, and so it will for you too.
Also, do you know that grit is often associated with success in various fields like academics, athletics, business, and arts? In a research study by psychologies, Angela Duckworth showed how grit can be developed, scaled, and measured.
Having grit does not mean a person is immune to failures and setbacks, but rather they can bounce back from all these challenges and use them as learning experiences. And grit can help you, a brave-hearted woman in achieving and navigating the ups and downs of your life with perseverance, passion, and resilience. So if you wanna know how to start, head over to this week’s episode to find out!

Quotations:
“...crawling is acceptable. Failing is acceptable. Falling is acceptable. Puking is acceptable. Crying is acceptable. Blood is acceptable. Sweat is acceptable. Pain is acceptable. But quitting on a worthy is not acceptable. So if your goals are honorable and worth your time and effort to pursue. In other words, they're worth waiting for. Then at some point in life, you're gonna need grit. You're gonna need this commodity called resilience, grit, and perseverance to keep going because what is worth having is hard work.”
“Quitting is a habit, by the way. It's just something that you do because you're afraid of failure, defeat, and shame.”
“The Bible talks a lot about perseverance, but it is twofold. Not only do you grow in the strength of character, but you get your results too. You get the reward, you get the prize, and you reach your goals.”
“Keep your fire ablaze. Focus on the wind. Keep your drive and your commitment going forward. Don't let distractions dim your light. Don't let disappointments snuff you out. Because you are called to the work that you're passionate about or that you were passionate about.”
“For goals that are easy, low-hanging fruit. You don't need the grit to get something that's quickly done, but you need the grit to get something that's long-term.”
