LSU WBB coach Kim Mulkey facing criticism for postgame comments on Angel Reese, Cardoso scuffle

The LSU Tigers women's basketball team fell to Dawn Staley and South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday afternoon 79-72 in the SEC Tournament Championship Game. The matchup between those two women's basketball heavyweights was physical and chippy from the beginning and ultimately ended up in a bench-clearing fight. Following the game, LSU head coach Kim Mulkey made comments in her press conference that has received a lot of criticism, across the SEC and across the country.

 

"I wish she would've pushed Angel Reese," Mulkey said on South Carolina's Kamilla Cardoso who shoved LSU's Flau'Jae Johnson to the ground which initiated the fight. "Don't push a kid. You're 6'8, don't push a girl that little."

 

Cardoso will receive a one game suspension for the altercation while Johnson will not. Next up for both teams is the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
