Update #10: The War in Ukraine (with Frederick W. Kagan)
Giselle, Dalibor, and Iulia are joined again by Frederick W. Kagan, senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and director of the Critical Threats Project, to discuss the latest developments on the Russia-Ukraine War. Kagan provides an overview of winter warfare on the battlefield, including the status of the Russian military's Bakhmut campaign, potential Russian military plans within the Luhansk region, Russia's withdrawal from Kherson, and the chance of a Russian offensive campaign launched from Belarus. Kagan illustrates how the Russians are running out of trained manpower, ammunition, and equipment, as well as discusses the complicated role of the Wagner Group within Russia's military operations. Finally, Kagan and the co-hosts discuss whether Western resolve will strengthen or wither in 2023 and how the West should respond to Russia before Putin pursues even "crazier" escalatory options.
