In this episode of The Artist Business Plan we sit down with photographer and animator Jason Chen. We discuss the exploration of time with animation and photography in Jason's work before moving to tips from him as a gallerist. Topics include: how to best present your work, name consistency, portfolios, working solo vs with a team, talking to collectors and more.
"Art is like fine wine, you need time to ferment it."- Jason Chen
Guest: Jason Chen is a Philadelphia-based photographer who specializes in fashion, editorial, and alternative process photography. He's also the co-founder/co-owner of Paradigm Gallery + Studio and Juggling Wolf. Jason currently practices photo weaving. He began using two images taken within seconds of each other, then cutting and weaving them together. Because of his background in film and animation, Jason explores ways to incorporate the “Fourth Dimension” - Time - into his work. Photo weaving allows him to do this by exploring movement and mutation. His artwork has been featured in galleries across the country and overseas.
