How do you become a Google Certified Coach?

- What is the Google Certified Coaching Program?
- How does it work?
- Participants work through the Google Certified Coaching Curriculum, complete the skills assessment, and submit their application along with a portfolio. Rolling applications - notification within 4-6 weeks.
- What are the requirements?
- Level 1 and Level 2 Google Certified Educator
- How long does the program take to complete?
- The program is self-paced, but is designed to be completed throughout the school year.
The curriculum takes ~ 20 hours to complete. Once completed participants take an assessment and then assemble their portfolio to submit along with their application.
- Financial Requirements
- What do you learn from the program?
- The program is centered on the 5-Step Coaching Model, and provides a structured, research-proven set of strategies to drive impactful coaching interactions and technology use. The focus, however, is not on the technology rather on building the relationships, making this program useful for all educators in a coaching role (not just for Tech Integrators). Google highlights their Workspace tools as a means to assist coaches in their work.
- What is required to maintain your Certification?
- Once a Google Certified Coach, you need to report 100 hours of 1:1 coaching per year to maintain certification on the EDU Activity App as well as maintain your Google Level 1 & 2 educator status.
- How do you get help becoming a Google Certified Coach?
- MassCUE offers a cohort program where participants can work through the curriculum together. The next cohort begins August 1st and runs through February 2nd. The cost is $195 for MassCUE members / $235. for non-members.
- The goal of the Google Certified Coach Cohort Program is to help instructional coaches strengthen their practice and successfully become Google for Education Certified Coaches. The first cohort was a huge success and we’re hoping for another great turnout this fall!
- Benefits of MassCUE’s cohort program:
- Support from facilitators who have completed the program and have experience coaching.
- Support from peers who are working towards the same goal.
- Monthly check-ins.
- Sharing of strategies, tools, ideas, resources...- think tank model.
- Extending your PLN
- Ready-made resources to use for coaching as well as artifacts that can be submitted as part of the portfolio portion of the application process

Johanna Wilson
In her current role, 6-12 Technology Integration Specialist, Johanna works closely with the teachers and students in Hamilton-Wenham to support the effective use of technology in teaching and learning. In addition to designing and implementing professional development opportunities for her colleagues, Johanna is passionate about project-based learning and was charged with the design and oversight of a school makerspace, where she collaborates with teachers who are looking to incorporate hands-on, in-context, meaningful project-based learning experiences for their students. Johanna is a Level 2 Google Certified Educator, a Google Coaching Certificate applicant, and a member of the first MassCUE Champions Cohort.

Sarah Boyle
Sarah Boyle is an enthusiastic Technology Integration Specialist who has been working at Milford Public Schools since 2014. She is a Google Certified Trainer, Seesaw Ambassador, and Pear Deck Coach. Sarah is passionate about planning, creating, and delivering professional development opportunities focused on bringing technology into classrooms in purposeful ways to enhance student learning. She also models best practices that ensure student access, engagement, and choice. Sarah has over 10 years of elementary classroom teaching experience where she pioneered integrating available technology devices and platforms into instruction and routines. Sarah holds Massachusetts teaching licenses in Instructional Technology, English as a Second Language, and Elementary Education.
