Faith Hedgepeth was a Native American student at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill in September 2012. She was living with a good friend Karena while she was waiting to move into her own place a month later. Everyone loved Faith - that is, everyone except Karena’s ex-boyfriend who blamed Faith for splitting them up. One night, Faith and Karena did some school work then decided to go out and party for a bit before going back home. Faith ended up asleep at Karena's - but Karena left again and left Faith alone with the front door unlocked. Karena and a friend came back the next morning to a horrifying scene - Faith surrounded in blood, items in the apartment that weren’t there before, and an angry note.
Seemingly a crime of passion and likely done by someone she would have known, police did not arrest anyone in connection to the crime for 10 years. On September 16, 2021 an arrest was made. But why did it take so long? Who killed Faith and why?
