About Ellen:

My name is Ellen Johnson and I help motivated but overwhelmed stitchers develop their skills and build their confidence so they can create one-of-a-kind needlepoint treasures.

In 2003, I founded Serendipity Needleworks, a premier needle arts shop, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. When I closed my shop in 2017, due to my husband’s medical condition, I left knowing that I wasn’t quite ready to retire. I just needed a more flexible life situation - one that would enable me to assist in caring for him at home.

That’s when I created The Stitcher’s Club, an online needlepoint learning center for stitchers around the world. My professional background (BS and MA in Education from The University of Alabama) prior to owning my shop gives me the distinct advantage of being able to assess an individual’s skill level and learning style and effectively cater to their needs so that they achieve success in a variety of educational settings.

Since January 2018, I have been coaching members of The Stitcher’s Club from across North America - and around the world - helping them develop their needlepoint skill sets so they can stitch with confidence.
