10@9 Make It Worth It - March 17, 2024

This morning I try to summarize the presentation yesterday at ADATH of our scholar-in-residence, Professor Shahar Lifshitz, of Bar Ilan Law School. Professor Lifshitz argues that today we have a second chance opportunity to try to improve the civility of Israeli life (and Jewish life in general) which blossomed in the aftermath of the catastrophe of October 7, and reject the acrimony that existed within Israeli society on October 6 and before. His plan is idealistic, but eminently reachable, and needs the assistance of all of us. Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation.
