This week, we are streaming Adelaide theatre to the world from YOU WANNA BIT OF THIS NOW, Michael Allen Productions's live streaming theatre project in Blackwood.
All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts.
But in the Adelaide Hills, one man is making the theatre and television to local and global audiences, mixing the live with the televised and truly bringing intimate theatre to the globe in a way Shakespeare could never had dreamed of.
That man is Michael Allen and to paraphrase his live streaming theatre project, we wanna bit of him now.we are now on his stage as much as he is on ours.
The event at YOU WANNA BIT OF THIS NOW on the night we were recording, was Waiting For The Mothership, performed by Producer Slippy (Tim Rodgers), songwriter/visual artist Charlotte Ball, and guitarist Nigel Burly. Tim and Nigel are former artists of the Australian Ballet with extensive careers as performing artists and arts educators. They are also co-founders of The Millthorpe Film Festival, as well as having an interest in snare drum manufacture. The work we saw was a live percussion and contemporary dance solo performance with integrated video projections. Hip-hop based sounds influence and a dark comical mood. The performance was an arrangement of Waitingforthemothership's Throw Up soundtrack accompanied by a shady radio station broadcast (not a reference to our podcast, we hasten to add!!).
