This morning we a new, surprising answer to what is the central, unique miracle of Purim, supplied by Chatam Sofer. Hint, it occurs in the beginning of the story, and it raises the importance of Taanit Ester (Fast of Esther, which is tomorrow, Thursday, March 21, 2024). Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation.
