For many, the Covid pandemic prompted a rethinking of how we serve the world. Peggy Horan's rethinking feels more radical than most. After decades of working with movement and touch, at the iconic Esalen Institute, Peggy entered her 80s eager to explore serving clients in an entirely new way. My inspiring conversation with Peggy initially released in the summer of 2022.
Peggy Horan is a 50+-year practitioner and teacher of Esalen Massage, student of yoga and movement, and a retired midwife. She was one of the founders of the Esalen Massage School. and is the author of "Connecting Through Touch: The Couples' Massage Book." Peggy first visited Esalen in 1966, and both her work and her personal journey are intimately entwined with the spirit and legacy of Esalen, the legendary human development institute in California's Big Sur.
Today, at the age of 82, in a time of virtual communication and sometimes physical distance, Peggy has studied to become a life coach.. She is exploring ways of serving clients without touch and working in prisons, where touch is not allowed.
