The Diamondbacks showed everyone last year the importance of a good start for surprising teams. 

Few picked Arizona to go far last year. But they came out of the gate strong and was able to absorb a rough final few months to punch a ticket to the postseason and ultimately win the National League pennant.

An argument could be made that they won the pennant because of how well they played in the first half of the 2023 season.

And they improved each aspect of their team with legitimate major league players.
