This week on The Pod Charles Cinecast, presented by The Prince Charles Cinema, our hosts Jonathan Foster and Fil Freitas try to get a show on the radio, but when the station manager denies them, they resort to taking the place hostage!
We're in Week 2 of our Brenaissance Mini-Arc – this time looking back on the 1994 rock-comedy, AIRHEADS. Brendan Fraser, Steve Buscemi, and Adam Sandler star as three wannabe rock stars, who take a radio station hostage with water pistols, in order to get their demo played on the air.
With a solid supporting cast, a silly premise, more early 90s tropes and another fun head-banging soundtrack, the cult classic is another solid early entry in Brendan Fraser's career. Plus, Airheads sets up Adam Sandler for one hell of a run – where he went on to bank over $4 billion at the box office. Oh, and it showed off the comedic chops of Steve Buscemi, who was better known for his demented roles in independent movies up to this point.
Tune in, as we give The Lone Rangers the airwaves...
“Well, there's three of you. You're not exactly lone. Shouldn't you be the Three Rangers?”
