Becky Maxwell - Working in Emergency Medicine, Leading in a Crisis & Managing Uncertainty
Our guest this week is Becky Maxwell, a part-time Emergency Medicine Consultant and Clinical Chair of the Division of Diagnostics and Therapies at the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, as well as the Co-Chair of RCEMLearning (the Royal College of Emergency Medicine e-learning website).
Becky shares really honestly the reality of juggling her portfolio career in emergency medicine alongside raising her two-year-old son. Including her advice for leading in a crisis, managing uncertainty, looking after our mental health, and, crucially, influencing senior leaders so that supporting working parents is a top priority. She also shares her decision-making process when it came to applying for senior roles as a new mum.
This is a must-listen not only for any parent working in emergency medicine but also for anyone who is juggling their career and parenthood and looking to take the next step in their career.
