3:05pm- Lindsay Wise of The Wall Street Journal reports that “House Speaker Mike Johnson (R., La.) has pledged to bring up Ukraine aid for a vote in the House soon after Congress returns from Easter recess in coming days. But what the bill will look like—and who will support it—remains unsettled…The Senate passed a $95 billion package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan in February with bipartisan support. Johnson has resisted calls from defense hawks of both parties to simply bring the Senate bill up for a vote in the House, saying his chamber will move forward with its own bill that would add ‘some important innovations’ not included in the Senate version.” You can read the full report here: https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy/mike-johnson-us-ukraine-aid-package-a3bac384?mod=hp_lead_pos2

Mr. Biden’s new plan would reduce the amount that 25 million borrowers still owe on their undergraduate and graduate loans. It would wipe away the entire amount for more than four million Americans. Altogether, White House officials said, 10 million borrowers would see debt relief of $5,000 or more.” You can read more here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/08/us/politics/biden-student-loans-debt-relief.html
