"I will tell anybody that's in my shoes," says Mike Matranga, "if you think that you're going to just jump head over heels into K-12 and start making a difference by causing waves, you're wrong." This sentiment underscores the importance of understanding the unique dynamics of the education sector.

"I admittedly came in super strong and from a very proactive standpoint," admits Mike Matranga. "I assumed that people were gonna take orders and directives, like they did when I was in the Secret Service. You get an order, you do it. You don't ask questions, you do what you're told."
However, Mike Matranga quickly realized that the same approach does not yield the same results in K-12 education. "Not the same in K-12," he reflects. "Love you guys to death, but damn. Y'all are hard to deal with sometimes. You know?"
