Goodness and Mercy Show Up When We Do (from Psalm 23)

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD my whole life long.” - Psalm 23:6

There are different ways of understanding the phrase goodness and mercy following us. In one of these ways we are centered in gratitude. 

We become fully aware of all the blessings we enjoy… the kindness, hospitality, and love we have received. We are grateful for our health and strength, our food, clothing and shelter. 

In light of this evidence, we can only conclude goodness and mercy are literally chasing us down. I won’t argue with this understanding. 

Let me suggest an additional Goodness and mercy follow us everywhere we go because that’s what we bring with us.
