The Big Wedding Planning Podcast
Society & Culture:Relationships
Birdy Grey was founded in 2017 in Los Angeles by digital marketing, social content and branding expert Grace Lee. Lee has 13+ years of experience working for top female brands in fashion and beauty including InStyle, Kate Spade, Stila Cosmetics and Kate Somerville Skincare. Having been a bridesmaid six times herself, she personally knew how fun (but damn expensive) being a bridesmaid could be. She saw an opportunity for aspirational bridesmaid dresses at affordable prices, and so Birdy Grey was born. Based in Los Angeles, Grace combines her expertise in fashion with her love for digital storytelling and all-things bridal to make Birdy Grey one of the fastest-growing bridal brands today. Now, Grace is getting married! With a new perspective on weddings, she joins us to talk about her big day, the planning process and all the in-betweens.

*Big Takeaways *
In finding an officiant, Michelle recommends Unboring Wedding Academy to make sure whoever she chooses to officiate can really make the perfect day.
For wedding invitations, Grace decided to use digital invites with a wedding website. Then, she sent out a beautiful informational card to those who RSVP’d yes. That way it was useful, and not wasteful.
Although a large part of their families can’t make it over to the states for the wedding, they do intend to travel to Asia and have a second wedding there. They have opted to not have a virtual component because of the time difference, and the ability to travel once things have cooled down with the pandemic.
While their wedding venue is very classic, they are mixing classic and modern for the design. Blue and grey are their main colors. They plan to have an installation, and an instagram backdrop lounge where people can take photos and hang out. They intend to rent furniture and again mix vintage with more modern.
Grace highly recommends a wedding photographer, and creating a shot list well before the big day. That way you can work with them to get all the beautiful photos you are really wanting.
