Change is Hard. Not changing is harder.
“If you don’t risk anything, you risk even more.” -Erica Jong
There is a comfort in what is familiar. There are some things in our lives that are broken and dysfunctional, but we know how to navigate them. We know how to get by.
There’s an old saying that ‘it’s better to stick with the devil you know than the one you don’t know.’ I want to know why you’re planning to remain with any devil?!
The people of Israel had a certain comfort level in slavery. On their way to freedom many complained that it would have better for them to remain behind than to die in the wilderness. However, had they remained their children and grandchildren never would have tasted the fruits of freedom.
Change is hard. Uncertainty is frightening. But the most frightening thing of all is what our lives are going to be if we don’t make the change we need to.
Truly, “If you don’t risk anything, you risk even more.”
I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
