Podcast Hantverksbira, EP 85, Hoppy People Brewery
Recently Hantverksbira visited the great craft beer festival ÖrebrewFest in Örebro, Sweden. The Swedish importer Mastebo Craft helped us to set up a meeting with Olivier from the Swiss brewery Hoppy People Brewery. And we got a really nice chat with him about the brewery and the market of craft beer in Switzerland. Hoppy People Brewery focus on modern style of beers, American inspired IPA´s and similar hoppy stuff. That is also reflected in the name of the brewery. On top of that they also focus on barrel aged beers. They come from the mail wine district Sierre in Switzerland. So they use barrels both from the wine industry as well as more ordinary ones like bourbon and cognac barrels. During the podcast recording we tasted their beer Chouchouloulou 2023 which is a barrel aged Barley Wine. It has has been matured for 24 months in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels and the strange name is from the brewery´s cat ;) A part of the profit of this beer will be donated to animal protection associations. It was an extremely soft and smooth beer for 15,3% ABV. Hoppy People don´t want to "stress out" their beers on the market... The BA beers should be out in the market when it´s at the best! Thank you Mastebo Craft for making this possible! Thank yo Olivier for having this friendly chat with us.
