The first 5 verses of this Surah is believed to be the first verses revealed to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) by Allah (سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ). This signified the beginning of his Prophethood. At the time it was revealed the Angel Jibreel commanded him to read this Surah but Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was illiterate and could neither read nor write.
Narrated Aisha: The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) was in the form of true dreams. The Angel came to him and said, “Read, in the Name of your Lord Who has created (all that exists), has created man a clot. Read! And your Lord is Most Generous” ..(96.1,2,3)
