Surah Al-Ala (Arabic text: الأعلى) is the 87th chapter of the Qur’an. The surah titled in English means “The Most High” and it consists of 19 verses.
On reciting Surah A’la on Friday, “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to recite in Jumu’ah prayer: ‘Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High (Al-A’la 87) and: ‘Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)?”(Al-Ghashiyah 88)
The main theme or lesson we can take from Surah Al-Ala as a reminder to us that Allah (سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ) knows all. There is nothing that can be hidden or kept in secrecy from him. The surah then concludes by refuting those who would prefer the rewards of this world.
