The Washington Capitals will have two players representing the team at this year's IIHF World Championships in May. Fehervary emerged as a reliable presence on the Capitals' blue line this season, using his speed and hockey IQ to shut down opponents' top scorers. Now he'll aim to do the same against elite talent at the Worlds. Meanwhile, forward Ryan Leonard will join Team USA's star-studded roster. Leonard, who won gold at the World Juniors earlier this year, is coming off a record-breaking sophomore season at Boston College where he tallied an astounding 41 points in just as many games. Leonard's invitation to Team USA speaks volumes about his maturity and high ceiling as a prospect. While other Capitals like Charlie Lindgren and Dylan Strome declined invites to focus on offseason training, Fehervary and Leonard are eager to gain more high-level experience. Considering the Capitals' early playoff exit, representing their countries will provide much-needed competition. It's a great chance for Fehervary and Leonard to develop further against elite international talent. If they can translate that experience back to the Capitals, it may give the team a boost toward greater success next season.
