Be Afraid. But Do the Right Thing Anyway.
"You should never let your fears prevent you from doing what you know is right."
~ Aung San Suu Kyi
Aung San Sui Kyi has fought non violently her entire life to bring democracy to Myanmar and to bring down an authoritarian government. She spent over 15 years under house arrest. And has since been sent to prison and is there to this day.
Despite this, she has never given up her fight looking to the example South Africa and other nations for positive examples of what may become in her country. She has never stopped using her voice and is giving her life to make this possibility one day become reality.
I’m not sure how many reading this or hearing this face the possibility of imprisonment or execution for doing what you know to be right. However, at some point all of us will face potentially negative consequences for standing on the side of justice and equality.
It’s ok to be afraid. But do the right thing anyway. That’s how change is made.
I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
