Marley Jaxx is a successful online entrepreneur who first experienced unexpected grief at 21, when her cousin took her own life. The shock was overwhelming, because Marley and her cousin were more like sisters… planning their lives, talking about dreams, the families they would have, and the happiness they’d share.
That’s why her cousin’s 12 page letter explaining her decision to exit this world made little sense to Marley. Everything she said in that final message seemed to contradict all of the plans they had talked about. Despite the lack of understanding, Marley was still facing a wall of grief she would have to climb.
Then, at age 31, Marley was facing an uncertain future with a dreaded cancer diagnosis. Her doctor urged Marley to get a complete hysterectomy, which threw her into a tailspin. After reaching out to her social media following to express her grief regarding her health, Marley received so much support she actually found the courage to follow her own instincts and seek second opinions and alternative treatment.
Today, Marley has a new perspective on grief, health and autonomy. She’s learned that life is about what happens to you when you’re making other plans… but the tragic things we experience don’t have to define us in ways we don’t want them to. We can be a mess and a masterpiece in progress at the same time.
