One proverb discussed today, verse 29, advocates pursuing mastery and excellence in our God-given vocations, regardless of societal recognition. When we face our mortality directly on our deathbed, our thoughts will likely center on the deeper aspects of our life, such as relationships with family, faith, and the quality of one's character and actions. We will not be thinking about how many widgets we sold or the impact of a specific email we wrote. Superficial pursuits of worldly success or material wealth will hold little value at that time.
