To help celebrate the release of Sky 1's brilliant family puppet fantasy show Yonderland on DVD on the 17th February 2014, I had the chance to have another chat with 2 of it's stars - Martha Howe-Douglas & Laurence Rickard.
Martha Howe-Douglas plays the main star, Debbie in Yonderland. She is also best known for playing the receptionist Donna Parmar in the soap Doctors and appearing as various characters in the children's series Horrible Histories.
Laurence "Larry" Rickard plays Wizard Bradley and Scribe Elder Ho-Tan in Yonderland. He is also one half of the comedy writing/performance duo "Larry and George", and has written for The Armstrong and Miller Show, The Charlotte Church Show and The Impressions Show with Culshaw and Stephenson, as well as children's programme Me and My Monsters.
Yonderland stars the cast of BBC's Horrible Histories, and takes mum Debbie Maddox (Howe-Douglas) on an unexpected journey to an extraordinary world inhabited by a collection of eccentric and usually idiotic characters with only an Elf (and his grumpy stick 'Nick') by her side to guide her. The show has a mix of actors who play multiple parts, and the puppetry genius of long-time Jim Henson collaborators, Baker Coogan.
We previously spoke to the cast just before Yonderland aired on Sky 1, and if you want to hear that interview, you can find it on the Yonderland show page here.
