LA Metro’s Board of directors approved new measures this week to improve safety on the transit system. About a third of Los Angeles police shootings last year involved people whom officers believed to be showing signs of mental illness. A new nonprofit addiction treatment center has opened in the Skid Row area of downtown Los Angeles. The Mount Waterman ski area has found a potential buyer.
