WHAT'S ALL THIS THEN?
JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, take a cinematic excursion through the history of one of the world's most notorious serial killers. Follow MONSTER PARTY down the fog-laden streets of Whitechapel London as we explore the terrifying case of... JACK THE RIPPER!
Jack The Ripper was the name given by the media to a maniac who carried out a series of brutal murders of women in the Whitechapel district of London, from roughly 1888 to 1991. We say roughly because although there are five so-called "canonical" victims of The Ripper, he was suspected of committing even more of these heinous crimes. As the brutality of Jack's crimes increased, more pressure was placed on the police to capture him. But despite the efforts of law enforcement, Jack The Ripper was never caught.
Over the years, Jack The Ripper has captured the imagination of the public, and many theories about his identity have been brought forth. And with this fascination, commercialization was bound to follow. Numerous books, plays, comic books, films, TV shows, musicals, pop music, video games, and even tourist attractions, have taken advantage of The Ripper's legacy. But what is it about the case of JACK THE RIPPER that has given it such world-wide popularity?
Helping us answer this question is a returning guest, with an intellect as sharp as ole' Jack's blade. He's an award-winning author, film historian, screenwriter, director, columnist, DVD commentator, and actor, who we have the honor of calling our friend.
