The Giro d’Italia that ended last weekend was the ninth The Cycling Podcast has covered on the ground, in full, with daily episodes from every stage.
Over that near decade, it’s fair to say that our love of the ‘Corsa Rosa’ and its host nation has deepened and broadened with every edition.
Daniel Friebe was initially nonplussed with the route unveiled last autumn - thinking it lacked sporting uncertainty and both historical and topographical showpieces - but the journey from Turin to Rome ended up both reviving old loves, revealing new ones and providing a compelling canvas for the racing itself, for all that Tadej Pogačar robbed the General Classification contest of any suspense.
In this podcast, you’ll hear some of Daniel’s personal highlights from road trip he shared with Brian Nygaard - and to which you, as listeners were vicariously invited, down and up ‘The Bel Paese’, on and off-course, hopefully into the soul of the Giro d’Italia.
