Enslaved to Idols (Galatians 4:8)

"Formerly, when you did not know God, you were enslaved to those that by nature are not gods" (Galatians 4:8).

Idols enslave you. There is no freedom in their worship. The only freedom comes through worshipping the one true God. Leaving Him as the top priority in your life. Not putting anything else in the top spot in your life.

Even though you feel that you're in charge, you're really a slave. A slave to your own thoughts and desires because these idols have no power of their own. They receive power because you give it to them.

The Galatians understood that. They had experienced the great freedom the Gospel brings. No more enslavement. Only the freedom of being a child of God. Amen.
