Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
When a child is dependent on Mother’s nourishing milk, supply miraculously flows for the one taking, until the child is full.
Similarly, endless oceans of Divine Guidance flows for the one in need, when connected to the Shaykh. A true Guide never stops providing guidance for the one constantly and humbly asking for his support.
Life is difficult for every human being. Every person is uniquely tested with difficulties and hence, in always in need of advice.
Our Masyaikh has taught us the wise mannerisms of seeking advice and help from Allah (ﷻ) and through the one in authority.
In the presence of a Sultan, asking for crates of dried grass for a donkey is utterly useless when he can provide valuable jewels and increase one’s fortune in an instant.
Our fundamental needs are like these precious stones, they are of Divine value and useful for our eternal life in akhirah.
In the presence of your Master, ask for valuable support - obedience to the Shaykh, Rasulullah (ﷺ) and Allah (ﷻ), a good death, patience in worship, unshakable iman, steadfastness in Tariqah, riddance of the ugly head of anger and bad behaviour, to name a few.
After asking for these important matters, then can one ask for hay for the donkey - egoistic, physical needs of good health, wealth, marriage, children, or social status - as a means to transport one to do more goodness for the sake of Allah (ﷻ).
Our fundamental purpose is to be a source of goodness and service to the people around us, a small fragment of our beloved Prophet (ﷺ) who was sent as a Mercy to all of creation.
It is not wrong to ask for ease in our worldly sufferings but do so after asking for what matters most.
Remember that all difficulties endured in patience is grandly rewarded in the afterlife. The person being rewarded would wish for an entire lifetime of suffering on earth, at the sight of these rewards.
Therefore, be patient in difficulty, keep holding on to the Promise of the firm, guiding handhold of our beloved Mawlana.
Take time in this beautiful Way and allow our spiritual journey to unfold with yakeen in its process.
There is no need to rush into achieving spiritual maturity or feeling a complete rabitah. The time will come.
Every experience and struggle a sincere mureed endures with patience, pondering on its wisdom, will eventually lead to a constant rabitah and unshakable faith in Allah (ﷻ).
Keep the heart connected with zikir khafi (hidden remembrance) of ‘Allah, Allah’. This is the highest form of zikrullah and is all a sincere seeker needs to progress in this Way.
Zikir khafi removes shirk khafi. It delivers one towards servanthood with Allah (ﷻ) and away from slavery of the ego.
When we are constantly striving to be aware of Allah (ﷻ), InSha’Allah, we will eventually reach our purpose with the best of knowledge - ‘al ‘ilmu billah’, knowledge to be in Allah’s Presence, in all situations.
May Allah (ﷻ) make us heedfull ones progressing in this way and always in connection with our Guides.
