172. “An Undeniable Confession” - The Case of Alex & Susan Carter - Beckley, West Virginia

A landscaper, a caretaker, and a special agent.

In August of 2000 41-year-old Susan Carter was in the midst of a bitter custody battle with her ex-husband.

The pair were ordered to attend mediation regarding custody of their 10-year-old daughter, Natasha Alexander “Alex” Carter.  After a heated exchange at one of the meetings, Alex and Susan vanished.

A missing person’s report was filed for 10-year-old Alex and a felony warrant for her mother, Susan.  Decades after the two vanished investigators discovered that things aren’t always as they seem.
