Our external circumstances need not dictate our internal state.
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardlywe are being renewed day by day.” 1 Corinthians 4:16
Paul dealt with a lot of adversity in life. After his experience of God on the road to Damascus, and after the kindness and care he received from the Christians he once persecuted, he gave up his power and privilege to become a part of them.
He was often criticized and sometimes run out of town. He had some condition he described as a thorn in the flesh. Whatever it was it never got better despite his many prayers. He was beaten, arrested, jailed , shipwrecked, and eventually executed.
He was sustained in the face of all these challenges by focusing on God’s love each day and by living his life in response to it. He discovered that we could become more than conquerors.
Our external circumstances need not dictate our internal state.
