Eat, Drink, Be Merry, and Grateful
“So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun.” - Ecclesiastes 8:15
Our days in this life are few. Life itself can be extremely unfair. Sometimes there are no good whys, and if there are they remain hidden from us. So the best we can do is to embrace this life and give it everything we have.
The author of Ecclesiastes encourages us to do our work with all our might. Then the writer encourages to eat, drink, and be merry. We should most certainly enjoy the fruit of our labor. Celebrate life when and where we can.
Life is a precarious gift. The ability to work is a precious gift. The ability to enjoy is perhaps the greatest gift of all. Our ability to enjoy is interdependent with our ability to appreciate, with our ability to be grateful.
Eat, drink, be merry, and grateful.
