If you haven’t been out to the strawberry patch yet, your window is getting tighter. June is strawberry month in Wisconsin. Today we visit with Andrew Zwald at White Pine Berry Farm in River Falls. He says his dad went from dairy to berry in 2012 and started planting strawberries and pumpkins, and putting up a wedding barn. Today, the family has added Christmas trees and sunflowers, just to name a few. Zwald got involved in the family business in 2019. He says the reason the family continues to expand the farm is to make it a destination for the customer. Zwald credits the network he found within the Wisconsin Agricultural Tourism Association for helping him navigate new revenue streams. He encourages you to get out and enjoy strawberry season while it lasts. Zwald says don't forget to check websites, social media, or give the grower a call before you head out to pick. Conditions change by the hour.
