Willie Mays died on Tuesday, June 19. Considered one of the greatest to ever play the game if not the greatest, the Hall of Famer was 93 years old.
Grant Brisbee has written about the Giants since 2003 and has covered the club for The Athletic since 2019. He grew up in the Bay Area, going to games at Candlestick and even becoming a vendor there. He published this story after Mays' passing.
